NJ Retailer Goes Hollywood

New Jersey made its mark at the Golden Globes this week where the star power of Wine Chateau (Piscataway, NJ) helped put NJ on the map in Hollywood.  Wine, parties and Tinsel town are a great fit and Saurabh Abrol (CEO & President) of Wine Chateau and team were on hand to make the match. Wine Chateau was a proud sponsor at this year’s event and interestingly enough it was the first time any wine retailer (let alone a NJ wine retailer) was a sponsor at the Gala event.

And what would the Golden Globes be without a party. Stars flocked to the Wine Chateau booth at the Golden Globes Gift Lounge to do some wine tasting.  So inquiring minds want to know: What were the stars sampling with Saurabh that evening?

Here’s a small snapshot:

  • Jennifer Love Hewitt (an event nominee) loved the Domaine Carneros Sparkling Wine from the House of Taittinger.

  • Michael Clarke Duncan (Green Mile) enjoyed the Caposaldo Moscato.

  • Martin Short fancied the St. Francis Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • George Lopez was partial to the Remy Martin VSOP.

Plus this was not the first time the Wine Chateau rubbed elbows with the stars at an awards show; Wine Chateau was a sponsor at last year’s Emmy’s. All of of this glam has made Saurabh and Wine Chateau something of a Rockstar in the wine & spirits industry since promoting his brands in celebrity circles.

“We are starting to get more on-line orders.” adds Saurabh. “Our brand recognition is increasing tremendously in California and around the world. And we’ve gotten a lot of orders from A-list celebrities.”

Meanwhile in keeping with the wine & spirits theme: HBOS’s Boardwalk Empire, set in Atlantic City, NJ walked away with a Golden Globe for Best Television Series - Drama, as well as a big win for leading man Steve Buscemi for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series.  The HBO show is based upon the story of Nucky Johnson; of political influence in Atlantic City, during the early years of Prohibition. Nucky and his pals help to drive the flow of alcohol throughout the Northeastern United States – all without the use the Internet, imagine that.

And on the subject of the Internet another win for the night: The Social Network for Best Picture (as well as for Best Screenplay, Best Director and Best Original Score). And the buzz is beginning for it as the potential winner for an Academy Award. The story is based upon the real life business venture of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who also had a connection to NJ through his recent donation to the Newark public school system.
